Dear past me,
I’m writing this letter to tell you that, along the way, you will have to make some very important decisions. And one day, you will finally understand the true meaning of your soul and your essence.
The cruelty of the world will shape you and, little by little, you will stop being that innocent little girl. You will become a woman filled with charisma, love, and tenderness. However, you will no longer be able to ignore the bad intentions of others. Not because you have changed, but because you will have learned how to recognize them.
You will learn to sense cruelty from a distance, and you will discover that even when you have to walk through darkness, you never have to let it take away the light that has always lived within you.
But the most important thing is that you will never lose your essence. Deep down, you will still be that little girl full of energy, curiosity, and courage, with an endless desire to face the world.
A small dose of disappointment will find its way into your heart, and you will no longer look at life with the same innocence of someone who believes everything is magical. But that spark inside you will still be there.
People will come and go from your life. Some will stop making sense, while others will appear only to teach you something about the world — and about yourself.
One day, you will learn to accept that. You will understand that, at times, this journey is a path we have to walk on our own.
You will learn to set boundaries. And, finally, you will learn to say “no” without feeling guilty.
And that will come at a price.
You will discover that many people only love what we give them, not who we truly are.
So please, don’t lose yourself along the way.
The journey will be long, and your victories will come slowly, one after another. Everything you once wished for will begin to appear in your life in subtle ways. And maybe that will be the best way for it to happen, because you will learn to be patient and to trust the slow process of becoming.
From where I stand today, I can still see that there is a long road ahead of us. There are still challenges to face, doubts to overcome, and lessons we have not yet learned.
What I can tell you is that you will make many mistakes. But you will also get many things right.
With time, you will discover that your greatest ally has always been your intuition. That quiet gift inside you will warn you in the most unexpected moments and help you see what your eyes are not always able to notice.
You will become more strategic. You will develop a sharper, more critical way of seeing things, and simple words or superficial connections will no longer impress you so easily.
You will also carry some of your worries in silence, because you will convince yourself that you are strong enough not to burden anyone else. You will wear an armour to appear tougher and unbreakable, when deep inside, you will still have an incredibly sensitive heart.
The conflict between reason and emotion will follow you for many years.
You will deal with practical problems with ease, but matters of the heart will continue to test you. And somehow, it will sometimes feel as though life knows exactly where you are most vulnerable — and chooses to challenge you there.
After many sleepless nights, you will realise something important: many of the monsters you created were given their strength by your own mind.
There will come a moment when your body sends you a very clear warning: either you learn to take control of your thoughts, or they will eventually take control of you.
And believe me, that is when you will begin to feel even stronger.
Not because life will suddenly become easier, but because you will learn to face difficulties differently. You will stop stepping back when challenges appear, and you will fight for the things you know are meant for you.
And finally, learn to invest your mental energy in what helps you grow.
Do not spend so many hours trying to control situations that were never yours to control.
With time, you will understand that many of the things we desperately try to figure out eventually find their own answers.
Some things simply need time.
And one day, after everything you have survived, learned, lost, and become, you will look back and realise something beautiful:
the little girl who dreamed of conquering the world never disappeared.
She simply grew up.
